Back wheel spins while on Centre stand

Hello Everyone. My back wheel spins while my T-100 is on the centre stand. It's not is gear, don't worry! If I stop it with my foot - it stops, but will start spinning again when I remove my foot. I wonder, is my clutch slipping? I don't feel it slipping while I ride, or while stopped with the clutch in. Any insight would be great, thanks. Also, I've never adjusted my clutch, just the play on the lever. cpF

No... if you can stop the tire from spinning easily, you're fine.

It's perfectly normal... I don't know the technical explanation, but they all do it.

See that's why you guys are awesome!

Thanks for the answer. I've never had a bike with a centre stand and just don't know how things should work. Awesome. cpF

I think the reason why the wheel will turn is because the clutch plates are so close together and they are submerged in motor oil and there is some drag as one part of the clutch spins and the other does not. I don't think dry clutch Ducatis do the same thing.

You will notice that once the bike is warmed up, and the oil thins out, the wheel won't tend to turn as fast, or at all, when on the center stand in neutral. Same reason the bike clunks the first time you put it in gear when it's cold.

actually no.
the cold first gear cluck is (clutch disengaged) plate friction and thick oil, (old kick start you had to do a kick with the clutch disengaged to break the plates loose)

but the rear wheel spin (clutch engaged in neutral) is there's some friction between the shafts and gear bearing surfaces and perfectly normal...it's like stirring a spoon in liquid drives the liquid crazy.

I like these easy questions.

Want to know which oil to use?

Just use a frothy mixture of WD-40 and Pledge.

Cheers!
