If you don't have a tach, figure out shift points and mark them on your speedo. You could try shifting at max torque vs hitting the rev limiter. Usually there's a drop off if you hit the limiter.

WE ALL WANT TIMES!!! Hope you get in a ton of runs using various techniques.

Practice runs

I went to a new housing development where noone is around and did some practice take off runs, I learned you cannot unload the clutch to fast, the bike bogs down alot. So after I feather the clutch a bit, I got up to speed pretty fast, also got used to not using clutch to shift, and always at WOT baby!!!!

The guys I am going with are fellow BIR members and they have run their Thruxtons and Bonnies in the low to mid 13's, hopefully I can beat them!!!! My bike is tuned better (jet wise and dyno tuned), but they have 35mm carbs.

If you get mid to low 13s first time out you will be doing good .It takes time and money to go faster lol.The new sport bikes run some very fast times but our bikes arent sport bikes. You might be suprized how fast 13 sec . feels first time out.My old h2 750kaw back in the 70s would run 11.80s and 11.90s back then that was fast for a street bike.Even as slow as that is today it would scare the hell out of you first pass you made. All though i am not to sure that many of todays bike would walk it the first 100 yrds.

Thumbs up Just got back from a run on the strip in Tennessee

Was up at the Dragon last week and we rented a 1/8th mile strip. My best time with a stock 790cc was in the low 9's. I was with a buch of Yama Warriors, but there was a Harley Sportster 883 there. I smoked him in three runs. I felt the front tire get light, but no wheelie. My advice is not to hit the rev-limiter. Every time I did that, I lost too much time. My best run was when I didn't hit it at any shift.

drop the psi in your rear tire before your runs, it provides better traction, my bike blows the back tire loose before it pulls the front up. practice launches, is a must. and just go out to have fun at first then start trying to beat your own times
