English_Spanner,

personally I dislike the lack of the centre ( wear limit guide, dirt catcher) groove like the OEM's have. I recently replaced mine with a set from Carbon Lorraine (made in France) that also uses a sintered ceramic carbon friction material. I paid some 40€ (31£) for them in a mc parts shop. That's not that much more than the Ebay ones, considering I had no post and handling cost.
I've been using C.L pads on my last five bikes, they were better than the originals every time.
Anyway, buy what you like and see if it's better than what you replaced!

I've not heard of this brand before or seen anything (good or bad) posted about them here or on NTBF. The price is certainly competitive. I use EBC HH front and rear myself and find that they are siginificantly better than the Triumph OEM pads. In fact, as the rear is a bit fierce even with the stock pads, I might save a bit of money by using EBC standard in the rear next time. If you're interested, the cheapest place I've found in the UK for EBC pads is www.brakes4u.co.uk A complete set of front and rear HH pads will cost £38.29 delivered and their service is reliable. Not much more than the Gold Fren, and a known quantity/quality for something vital like brakes.

Having "Googled" Gold Fren they appear to be a Czech brand (not a bad thing in itself), but this thread is not very complimentary - http://www.fireblades.org/forums/gen...brake-pad.html

Just replaced my rear brake pads last weekend and ordered them from Newbonneville.com. They were Carbon Lorraine brand. I can't remember how much they were, but you can find out by looking at Brent's site.

Yes, I've heard of Carbone Lorraine. It's Gold Fren that "English_Spanner" originally asked about that's the (to me anyway) obscure brand.

PAAS,

got it- sorry!

Searched for Goldfren- firm from Chzechia-I must admit, tempting prices! Bikebandit sells Gold Fren
(Goldfren = Goldenbrake)-I suppose it's the same brand. I like Czech stuff-wayy back my first bike was a 125cc CZ. link:iconhttp://www.bikebandit.com/nav/brakepadshoe?a=637371

No problem. Perhaps I should have been more specific.

=============================

Thanks for the link PAAS, this is enough to put me off:
"These pads are terrible. No stopping power. Stock pads are far, far better. I would not use them even if they were free, and I am a cheap bastard."

I have seen the EBC at www.brakes4u.co.uk, I'll go with them.
Cheers.

A bit late to ad, but I just noticed this thread while searching for brake pad information.

Goldfren makes a few diffrent models of brake pads. The ones refered to in the Fireblade forum (the red package) are the budget version of Goldfren, called AD. They have more expensive pads, wich are still a good deal. The next step up is the S3 I think. Have anyone tried these?
