Too fat for my bonnie

I've been having a problem with my 06 T100 shutting off intermittently while riding. It has happened six times over the span of 2000 miles, and the bike has been at the dealer six times to try and figure out the problem. See my other thread, stuttering bonnie if you are interested in the details.

First it was thought to be a problematic roll-over valve, so that was removed, then it was thought to be something to do with the CA emissions systems, so he eliminated all of that.

Now, Triumph in England has told the dealer that with riders over a certain weight, the seat can ground out the ignitor and wiring harness under the seat. I was not told what that certain weight is, but I only weigh 200 pounds so this seems a bit rediculous to me.

Anyone else out there heard of this issue or have any experience with it?

Any big guys out there riding Bonnies? Any problem?

Thanks

sounds like a fat load of BS to me. I weigh, well, more than you, and I've never had a problem.

A fat load of BS is what I thought about it too.

This problem with my bike has been going on for waaaaayyyyy toooooo long. It shouldn't take several months, 2000 miles, and six visits to fix a problem on a bike that is less than a year old.

I've already tried to pursue lemon law action with Triumph, but since they can't reproduce the problem they won't do anything unless I get an attorney and take them to court. I don't really want to do that, but it is getting to that point though.

Speaking as a representative of the Hefty Americans, the dealer is full of it. I was 200 lbs back when I was skinny, and I have had no electrical problems.

Honestly mine does that on occasion, I think it's my kick stand sensor.

I dunno, but if I hang out with John this weekend I'll get a second opinion.

Good luck with that man, don't let 'em push ya around!

Drew -- I like your quote "Riding is better than coasting"

I've been doing a lot of coasting on my bike. Mostly on Interstate 5 in San Diego trying to dodge SUVs and find an off ramp.

I'm well over 200lbs and have never had that problem on my 07 T100 (5100 miles on the clock).

I find it difficult to believe that Triumph in England would say anything as ridiculous as this. I weigh something over 200lbs and have never had this issue either. Besides which, the seat pan is plastic, so how does it ground out anything?
