all you drillers out there

Ok so I did my initial bafflectomy, 2007 bonnie and I'm pleased with the results. Much more fun to drive through the Lincoln tunnel now. I'm not looking for huge sound but would like just a bit more. I am now poised to drill the first two baffle plates. I'm not planning on doing any mods in terms of performance for a while. Bike is all stock in that direction. Can fellow bafflectomers weigh in on how much they drilled while still retaining the stock jetting, conventional wisdom and anything they've noticed. Thanks!

IMO, you need a little back pressure to run stock stuff. Leave the last baffle.

I plan on only drilling the two plates closest to the end of the pipes where I removed the baffle so I think I should be good.

I drilled a 3/4" hole in each rear baffle and am pleased with the sound, it now has the proper amount of "rumble" with no rejetting or cost. If you would like it louder, try two holes each. I have heard that you can drill the next baffle in as well without upsetting the jetting but I haven't tried it. If I did I might start with a 1/2" hole. Have fun!

I punched out all my rear baffles with a drift and there was no noticeable difference in the performance, just sounded better. Now I'm running the Triumph performance pipes and there's real pick up performance wise. There is a bit of a "burble" when i back off but no biggie.: The carbs are untouched to the best of my knowledge. I'm a "let the dealer do it" kinda guy.

By the way, my dealer said as long as you're not running straight headers there's enough back pressure.

Great! I'm going to go buy a long drill bit today. Any recommendations on length for just going through the final two?

Good thing to keep in mind! Thanks. I will try and get a very long bit so even if it comes loose from the drill I will be able to still get it out.

Bit

Got my extended one @ sears. $12 I think? Ground a flat spot in the shank to avoid slippage . It has done 4 Bonnes , 1 America & 1 HD. Worth the $12 I guess? Good luck. Be careful to keep the drill strait as not to drill thru the side of the can! Happenned to one friend! Do as many (= amount on both sides) as you feeel you need. 4 did it for me.
