Center Stand Alternative

Norman Hyde has come up with an alternative to the factory center stand. A little cheaper... More info here - http://www.newbonneville.com/html/what_s_new.html

Thanks for the interest!!

$200 + shipping is not a very competitive price.

I couldn't agree more. $200 ++ still is not cheap. Should have come on our bikes in the first place. The factory and the parts guys see this as a way to sell something most people want, so they get to jack the price.

And, a question to the moderators.....
Why does TR allow dealers to post their new products here in the first place??
I have no beef with New Bonniville, just seems like a free advert for them, no matter how or in what way they supprot our sport. I'm against it.

Norman Hyde sells them direct for £92 (+ vat, but I don't think if you re-sell/import/export you pay vat). This is roughly US$ 181. No doubt Brent will have negotiated a better rate than this but by the time you've shipped from the UK -> USA and paid local fees and, lets remember, wages(!) there's not an unreasonable profit margin there...

Like I said, in the UK direct from Norman Hyde they are £92+vat = £108.10. This is roughly US$ 213 + shipping, so you're getting a better deal that us in the UK...again

In the UK, Norman sell these for £108 including sales tax, compared to Triumph's price of £149.99 (inc. tax), so that seems like a reasonable saving to me. Brent's price also seems fair given current exchange rates. He gets to post here because he contributes to the cost of running this site through banner ads. Personally I find it useful rather than annoying. Some of Norman's other prices are outrageous though. Would you pay the equivalent of $32 for the K&N oil filter with the nut welded on? That's double the price we pay for the Triumph branded filter (and about 4 times what you pay in the US for the K&N).

Triumph are hardly unique in selling their bikes without centre stands and offering them as accessories. Ducati, for one, also do it. I believe it has come about due to the prevalence of plastic fantastic crotch rockets these days, where the fairing precludes the fitting of centre stands (and they don't suit this style of bike). Thus people have got used to buying bikes without them and using paddock stands instead. You could use the same argument on a number of accessories that Triumph (and Harley and all the rest sell). For example, Bonnevilles came with tachos in the Meriden days, but (unless you go for the T100) you have to pay extra for one on the Hinckley version.

The OEM one is $204 with free shipping from MADSS - just sayin'
I think the weak dollar is killing NH's US market.

I genuinely enjoy seeing vendors posting here, interacting with the community, and I hope they continue to do so. I certainly appreciate them making an effort to keep us up to date on new products and allowing us the opportunity to provide feedback.

As far as the center stand goes it would be a decent deal if it were in stock here in the states. Having to wait weeks or months for Hyde to ship stuff here just isn't worth the cost savings to me personally.

better clarify.....

Before the community jumps down my throat. My question should have stated something about a business STARTING a post to tout a new product. If this had come up in the middle of a post about center stands, that would be different, in my eyes. I too, am glad we have the eyes of businesses that support us poking around in here, and if they have some way to help us, am glad to hear about it. For instance, if I was to post here looking for a gizmo to do a certain job, or fulfill a need, I would be more than happy to find out who has an item that can help me (us) out, wether from an individual or a business that sells it. And I have seen this happen in the past, and thought, oh, that's cool, I didn't know so-and-so had that.

Im for it...maybe there should be a vendor section like on bonnevilleamerica.com.
I rather enjoy it when the vendors post new products for us to see. Gives us all a chance to ask some questions in a public forum and as you can see so far on this thread it gives the vendors a way to see what the initial reaction is so they can adjust price and/or provide feedback to manufacturers.
