Removing the evaporative loss system

Has anyone recently removed the CA evaporative loss system, aka the charcoal canisters and rubber tubes?

I have the step-by-step instructions from GaryD, I just wanted to see if anyone has pictures of the removal process.

Thanks in advance!

From my research, the big advantage is mostly cosmetic. By removing the canister you are also removing all the black rubber hoses cluttering up the area around the carbs.

I also believe that if something is not contributing to the performance, safety, and handling of my bike, I don't want it on there.

Just curious, but in CA do you need to submit your bike for annual checks to make sure that your gasses aren't too noxious (well your bikes gasses at any rate )? Here in the UK once a car/bike is 3 years old it needs an annual MOT test which, amongst other things, checks the emissions to ensure you're up to standard. Personally I couldn't be arsed to put on / take off once a year.

Nope, just our autos.

With those instructions it only takes about two beers. Ok, I drink fast.

I found out the hard way that the biggest advantage is they can get filled with water and vapor lock the bike and she'll die out. If that happens loosen the gas cap and you'll make it home or to the dealer if you are as mechanically inept as I am and have that useless tree hugging foolishness yanked off. I'm originally from Massachusetts and they are over the top with inspections so if I were still there I probably wouldn't even have been able to install the TOR's because of the emissions inspection. Now that I'm in Florida a vehicle inspection of any kind is but a memory.

I heard from a dealer that the State of CA is in the works to begin smog / emissions inspections on motorcycles starting 2009 or 2010. It sounds like it will be a periodic thing, once the program gets started. May never happen, but if you take it off, better save it just in case. I'm leaving mine on - I'm happy being a tree-hugger.

That would be for Fuel Injected Models only.

I did it Saturday. Pictures aren't really necessary. Its real easy. In fact, the hardest part is finding some 5/16" ID tubing for the carb vents. It seems that stores only sell fuel line in that size and its HUGE. I had to go online to order some.
