I had one break last New Year's Eve, about 40 miles from home. A good samaritan let me stow the bike in their garage overnight, my wife drove me home, I went back the next day with a spare cable and a few tools and retrieved the bike. Replacement cost me $38 at a Triumph dealer, I think.

Just got the bike home. Dealer quoted me $400 over the phone but it turned out to not be that expensive........
No major issues with the swap out, had to do a little adjusting as it's the first time I've ever done it but no major issues. I did notice that my chain is a little loose. That'll be fun to fix.

$38 bucks at the dealer is about right.
