All right fellas. I told ya'll they were real simple.

They're infinitely more sturdy than the expensive Norman Hyde pannier brackets I paid big bucks for.

oh yeah, those are sturdy! Looks like you could slide down the highway on those bags and come out ok.

Did you have to use a torch to heat them before bending them, or was it all vice and muscle?

Sweat, I used the torch. It's some kind of hard as heck cold rolled flat steel and it just wouldn't bend otherwise.

here's a 1430 (top loader) for $55.80 cheapest I've seen by a huge margin.

sorry to revive a dead thread

I just found this thread and had a question.
It appears the owner of the pelicans switched to the Givi setup with the expensive rack. Does anyone know why this occurred? Is there an issue with using the pelicans?

I'm seriously considering this and glad I found it. I was real close to buying the Hepco & Becker set from NewBonneville but really shouldn't spend that kind of money.

Thanks.

No Switch

The original poster with the Pelican mod has a B&W bike.

The person who showed the GIVI stuff has a B&R bike.

Different bikes. Different set ups. And I think, different countries?

The brackets the original poster shows are trick.
What a great, low impact (not to mention solid) solution.
Very cool and thanks to him for going to the trouble of showing them as he did.

I wonder if some kind of QR system could be developed for that mounting system- for an easy on/off.
