Dzus fasteners

I was looking at my new Scrambler today and thought a Dzus fastener would be the perfect thing to secure the left side cover. A quarter turn and off it comes. Has anyone tried this?

Dzus Fasteners

I think it is a good idea and one I've been considering but haven't yet tried.
Here's a link I've had bookmarked for future reference...

I had not thought of using them for the side covers - seems like a good idea - but i have for the seat screws. Of course, it would take some tinkering. My older Triumphs had hinges on one side and a pull knob on the other so the seat could be lifted easily, but with all the antiquated electrics under the seat, a rider needed that convenience.

I use (operate) Dzus fasteners (aviation) almost daily, it would be a great idea and a lot of race cars use them as well. What would be kind of trick would be to fashion a peg and pin like the old race cars use for the hoods to use for the side panel. You wouldn't need any tools.

Brian,
If you're familiar with the Dzus fasteners, would you be able to make some recommendations about who's catalogue to look in and what part numbers to use? I can't find any suppliers locally, and I haven't found any decent online catalogues. It would be trial and error.

Any help would be most appreciated. Based on my previous experience with these, it would be really handy for the side covers. One of our favourite Triumph aftermarket suppliers who frequent this board might be able to make some money off a kit. (hint, hint)

BB, sorry, no idea about suppliers. I just open and close panels that are secured by them. The U.S. Army provides all of those. Good luck.

Here's another idea David: Seek out a well stock hobby store that caters to large scale RC airplanes. There are some littler push-button latches that work perfect for fitting removable panels such as a side cover.
