T100 tweaking and tuning

Great day tweaking and tuning on the T100. Synched the carbs using my homemade ATF balancer.

It's a bit sensitive but the price is right. The carbs were a fair bit off and it idles better now.

The cam cover was leaking a bit and I was sure that a new chrome cover would be more effective than just a new gasket in stopping the leak. And I was right, it doesn't leak anymore, and looks good, too.

I also changed the oil and filter, using Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W50 and a Purolator filter. The Purolator is a bit taller than the Triumph filter so it hangs a tiny bit below the frame rails. I may have to stop log jumping with the T100 now.

Those ATF manometers are great.

You might want to remove some of that ATF; the optimum amount is whatever fill is required to put the ATF level at the mid point between the bottom and top of the manometer tubes. Doing so minimizes the likelihood of sucking some of that ATF through your combustion chamber.

Thumbs up

I think I would spend all day tuning and tweaking with a lift like that.

Yep, there is too much ATF in the tubing. Someday I will take some out, if it does not get sucked out first. One reason for using ATF is it won't hurt if some does get sucked in and burned. The other is because it is red and easy to see.

That lift has been one of my favorite tools. No more laying on a cold concrete floor working on my bikes, scooters and other equipment. It almost always has something on it in some state of disassembly. A friend's K bike spent a month there, then a NC cop Electra Glide for a few weeks. It seemed like an extravagence when I bought it a few years ago but now it is in use constantly. Recommended.
