My bars are the Norman Hyde "m-bars" pictured on page one of this thread. All of the other bars are from bikes other RAT members own. I just compiled some pics I found on the site.
I love the m-bars, but sounds like superbars, or Flanders wide clubman's might be what you are looking for. All of them are an improvement over the stock hangers.

Nope. You're good to go with stock cables.

drag bars
miley800, your bars look "straighter" than most drag bars. The ones I've seen have a 4-1/2 to 5" pullback, but are flat also. (28" or so wide)
Just over the week end, I put some HD drag bars on my -06 T100. Look just like the same ones NB sells, width, angle , and all. Their site says no mods, but I had to make some 1" high risers to stop the controls from hitting the tank. Tried all the angles, but just wasn't comfortable because without the risers, a good hard slap against the stops would have left a nice ding in the tank. I made the risers out of 1" o.d. aluminum, polished them up, and they look really good, blend right in with the stock parts. Oh, and I had to trim the fitting stop on the front brake resevoure to allow the brake line fitting to rotate a bit to clear the fork top nut. I love 'em.

yeah they look similar to other drag bars but not exactly the same. mine are 29.75 inchs wide, (not sure on pullback).
when i got the bike the bends were angled down, even in that position, they didnt hit the tank, i prefer the angle slightly up from horizontal. your risers sound like a good idea, but have already ordered some from New Bonneville. i may need to get a new bake line has the one on there seems pretty firm, and its a stainless braided type, which i dont think is standard, and theres no way i can see it going the distance to original bar height.will try putting a pic later of the bars from straight on similar to other pictures posted for a better comparison.
how do you like your bars, say compared to the standard bars or other bar you had on before. had a test ride on a new bonny ages ago with the stock bars, cant really remember what they felt like.

My bars are 27.5 wide, I believe. Your width explains the no need for risers. I would rather not have the riser, but then I'd need some bars with a 1" rise to clear things, so, whats the dif?? I have these set up totally flat, and compared to the stockers, these are much better. I find with my arms straight, and my back stretched ever so slightly(straight also), I'm much more comfy. The stock bars made me want to arch my back and slouch.
Having always been a fan of a more forward lean, I like flat bars. These are alot like the ones on my BMW R100RS, totaly flat with some angle back to them. I think I'm to old now to ride a Thruxton for any length of time, but someday I will own one. Hell, just sitting on one at the dealer hurt. That also means my clubman bars won't be getting any use soon.
The stock brake line is rubber, possibly with a SS liner??...but I doubt that part. Just get a stock hose if it will fit and save yourself some money. Sure, the SST lines look cool and at race speeds and demands may not flex so much, but do you go at race speeds and demands?? Not me.....or anyone else I know. Like so much other stuff sold for cars and bikes, makes me wonder how to justify the cost when I know I'm not really getting any benifit.
...think a wing on a Honda car.
