I believe I may be the first person here to have installed the new D&D system for the Scrambler - or at least the first to write about it, so I thought I'd give you all a "first report".
With the AI removed (kit included with the exhaust), a K&N filter/no snorkel, and the D&D provided jetting (.045 pilots/3 turns out), she fired right up!

BIG....STUPID...GRIN
First reaction was that she's not "much" louder at idle - but definitely deeper and meaner sounding. Give her a rev and she growls like
nothing else I've ever heard before. At first there was some some popping/backfire on decel after a rev and a little blue flame out the "top" (left cylinder) muffler now and then. Assuming air was getting into the exhaust somewhere, I checked the torque on the locknut connecting the header to the left cylinder and sure enough one was a bit loose. Fired her up again - no more popping or flame.
Unfortunately we got a couple of inches of snow today and it's still going, so I can't take her for a ride, but she fires right up and purrs like a kitten (albeit a very big and angry kitten). Crack the throttle and it's quite frankly the most amazing sounding thing I've ever heard. I'm still grinning ear-to-ear.
I was worried they'd be too loud - but even in the giant concrete indoor parking below my building it was quite frankly not too bad. Definitely much louder than stock, but frankly also much less obnoxious than many other bikes I've heard. She's loud, but it's a
good kind of loud.
Other goodies installed this winter:
NB Scrambler Superbars
Rizoma Bar-ends (black)
Rizoma "Class Retro" bar end mirrors
Rizoma front break fluid reservoir (black)
S3 mirror hole "plugs"
H4 Xenon headlamp
Rear turn signal relocation
BC "Mini-flex" type signals front and rear
Triumph "Sixty8" style Brown Contemporary seat
NB TF Seat bolts
I also have the MCR sissy bar/luggage rack combo ready to pop on for strapping up luggage for camping/backpacking trips.
Last bit to go on before Spring riding is a NB Lucas "bolt-on" kit on it's way.
I was originally going to install the BC Oval style taillight, but found it did not remotely fit the contour of the rear fender. I purchased the Airtech "Smooth Bobbed Fender" from NB hoping it would work, and found that not only did the taillight still not fit right, but the fender was actually longer than the stock Scrambler fender, did not follow the lines of the bike very well at all, and frankly was so light in construction I felt it would have needed another three layers of glass added not to just flop in the wind.
Here's hoping Brent comes through with the taillight soon - I was told 7-10 days on the 19th and we're back in the 50s by Thursday. If it doesn't get here soon I may have to slap the stocker back on for a bit until it gets here just to get out riding!
Sorry for my long rambling post - I'm just feeling like a proud new daddy! Pics as soon as it gets nice enough to give her a wash and take her outside...
