Instrument Panel on Thrux vs. T100

The difference between the instrument panels on a Thruxton and a T100 is subtle. But, the sharp contour between the speedo and tach is exactly what I've never liked about the panel on my T100. I just recently noticed that the Thruxton panel is different, and is what I'd like mine to look like.

I can get one for a Thruxton from Bike Bandit, and the price is not unreasonable at $22. So I'm planning on ordering one unless;

a) There's some strange reason that the two instrument panels might not be interchangeable.

b) A Thruxton owner that has replaced theirs with a D9 bracket wants to send me one cheap.

I have never seen a Thruxton panel up close.
Whats the differance between them and the t-100's?

Top & bottom contours of the brackets are different - you can see the difference in the top contours in the pics...

Interestingly, the thrux uses M5 socket head cap screws with a really wide head... the T100 uses M6 fasteners... IME the holes are pretty much in the same location on the respective top clamps, but the mounting holes on the thrux bracket are bigger, as the wide-head M5 screw used to secure it to the top clamp has a shoulder...

Agree with RD, the thrux bracket is the better looking of the two...

Cheers,

D9

Thanks for the input Seth. IME, nobody know these brackets better than you do. You're telling me that there will be a little slop in the hole size, but the hole pattern will line up. Is that the just of it? Any idea how much bigger the holes are in the Thrux bracket?

Phil -

You're in luck, 'cause I have a damaged thrux bracket sitting in a box in the shop... the front is impressively squashed & bent - whatever this hit, it hit good - but the holes and lower section are fine... so let's find out.

Thrux bracket mounting holes are +/- .330"

T100 mounting holes are +/- .266"

Those real wide-head M5's used on the thrux bracket, based on the indentations on the bracket, look to be about +/- .53" OD

Standard OEM M6 flange bolt is .427" OD

Typical M6 button head socket cap screw is +/- .403"

May or may not need small stainless washers using the Thrux bracket and the OEM T100 M6 flange bolts... no big deal either way.

Cheers,

D9

Sooooo, it looks like either 1/4" or M6 SS washers will be required. Or make some 1/4" I.D. X 5/16" O.D. bushings... even better.

Thank you Seth. You've been great help.
