question for honda f3 fork modders

I have a question for you Honda F3 fork modders -- that is, for people who have transplanted F3 fork tubes and internals to our Bonnie/Thrux lowers. I have been doing some serious, and seriously crazy, modifications to my bike over time to make it adventure bike-esque, in the vein of Tigers/big BMW GS bikes, but with less... ugly. I may have gone over this topic before in other threads, but I haven't thought about it in a while, so feel free to refresh my memory.

A while ago I picked up two sets of 41mm forks on a whim: one set from a 2004 Honda XR250R. Cartridge, 10.6" of travel, 20 compression damping settings, all that jazz. The other pair was from a BMW F650 ST with 6.7" of travel and virtually no adjustability. Let's ignore the obviously absurd travel of the XR250R forks and what will have to happen the back end... all will come in due time, and I have a spare swingarm ready for madness.

Top: XR250R, Bottom: F650 ST

This whole time, I've figured that with either pair of forks, I could drop the upper tubes into our stock lowers. Can I? I know it works with the Honda F3 forks, but I guess that's no guarantee that it will work with these guys. Both sets of forks are 41mm, but... heck, both the XR250R and F650 ST forks are leading-link!

I'd like to be able to disassemble the XR250R forks, my Bonnie forks, drop the XR250R internals into the Bonnie lowers, and ship them off to Sonic Springs for some custom work. That said, I also don't want to disassemble the forks and cry because they just can't work together.

If they are 41mm forks you should beable to do this. The obvious advantage to using the F3 fork's are the internals, as well as the added 1.375" ( I believe thats the correct measurement ) in length. I added race tech springs and gold valves in mine when we did the swap.

Check the length over the stock fork tubes you are using now and be sure that you'll have proper clearance between the tubes and your bars. I'm running hd drag brs, and had to add genmar risers.

Dont let the leading link lowers bother you...you'll be using stock lowers.
