02 bonnie restricter plate removal
? what and why is there a restricter plate in there for and how much of a difference and where in the rev range does it make the most i have had this bike about a month and put norman hyde peeshooter on it and installed the jet kit it came with 125 mains 42 pilots and shim under needle and the bike is way stronger everwhere now but i`m not sure i want to make it any louder by cutting up the airbox so is removing the restictor by it self going to help or will i have to cut the airbox to make any real difference .anyone using ebc double hh on this rotor, i used them on my 01 tiger (with maybe the same rotor) and the were way stronger than oems

Was that a comma I saw in there?
I use EBC pads. Don't seem to be any difference. Bob.

Removing the restrictor plate wakes the bike up quite a bit, it is noticeable. You will have to re-jet.

I'd say either leave the plate in or yank the whole airbox. Just my .
But, don't you have to remove the airbox to get at the plate anyway?

Nope, It can be removed by removing the right side of the air box and sliding the restrictor plate out the right side. You may need to persuade it a bit.
You will also need some good long (needle) nosed pliers or small vise grips to get at a couple of screws that are tucked directly behind a frame tube.
PITA factor medium to high.
Take your time. It's worth it. Install a K&N filter after that. You may want to up your mains to 128's or 130's.
Where you ride, the air is better,...you might even go higher, but that is something you will have to determine yourself.

Jimi_X - Your reply "persuaded" me to search the subject. Does look like quite a PITA, but this is what I found... click

PITA factor was pretty high but i felt a lot of difference, I went to 125 mains and shimmed under the needle 60 thousandths (K&N filter and TOR's). I live at 5600 feet, so at sea level, I think 130 or so on the mains.

PITA factor is off the charts...but than again...I was told to go through the LEFT side of the bike to get to the plate. That was obviously incorrect....but that also means that I had to deal with those stupid screws twice.....yeah you know the ones....
The mod is easy, but those two or three screws...ugggg....
