light install tips?
Hoping to put these on the Bon today. Any tips, suggestions, info on connectors to use, etc? Also, I plan to bolt the rear indicators to the fender. Will that be sufficient ground?
(oh, I'm also installing a 16t counter sprocket )

Parbonne - you'll need to take the ground wire(black) from the original harness to one of the bolts which hold the light on and also to the indicators, do a search on 'Lucas', there's plenty of tips available
16t sprocket? that will get you up there fast

How about a ride report on the 16T?

ok, first stupid question... it looks like the OEM tailight is hardwired to the bulb socket. I assume I cut these leads? Then will I need some female clips for the harness wires for the new tailight wires to plug into?

everything is hooked up (in the back). parking light comes on ok, brake light works and left signal works. Right signal is doing the quick blink thing. I'm guessing that's a ground issue but I've checked everything and all grounds appear ok. Any thoughts?

Did you take the original R/H ground wire to the new R/H indicator?

yes, original rh ground is to the rh stem. lh ground to lh stem. I ran both signal grounds from the harness to the metal signal stems, squashed between the stem bolts and fender. I think I'll try sanding some of the paint off the fender where I'm trying to ground. I can't think what else it could be.

Have you got a spare piece of wire? if so hold it against the left hand indicator (known ground) and also the right, whilst the right one is switched on, this should be enough to tell you whether the right hand ground is weak.

Ian, thanks for the tips and PM's.
For anyone else out there, here's where I'm at: I've only worked on the back so far. Taillight works fine, both the running light and brake light. LH signal works fine. RH signal does not work and RH front blinks fast when the switch is on. I've done everything I can think of with the two signal grounds from the wiring harness. Doesn't matter what I do with them, same results. I've tried grounding the harness signal grounds to both the indicator stems and fender and also the taillight.
Tomorrow (weather permitting) I'll try swapping indicators to make sure I don't have a bad one. I'm using butt splice crimp connectors so every time I make a change I lose some wire. Starting to get a bit short on wire at this point, I can probably loosen the harness up to try to get some more slack. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Bob, looks like I need to get a 36mm socket before I can put the 16t on. You'll get a full ride report for sure!

If you're getting short on wire, just twist them together and wrap with tape till you get the problem sorted.
Good Luck
