Help with Speedmaster Front Fork Springs Mod

G'day All,

Not overly impressed with the front suspension, dips down under braking more than I would like and I'm guessing (from what I reading in the threads) that is what progressive front suspension mods are all about.

Now the stock Speedmaster suspension, I have no idea if they use Damper or Cartridge Forks types. The spec sheet I could find only listed them as 41mm front forks.

Saw a thread that had MakDaddy putting in Progressive Rate springs, Thruxton adjustable pre-load caps with Oberon adjuster knobs. Seems like a great option, but where is the best place to purchase this gear/kit...I'm down in Australia but deal with USA companies quite often to get in stuff, so that ain't a problem.

I'm also guessing the 'Progressive Suspension' is the actual company name of one of the brands, but also found 'Ikon' Progressive springs at Newbonneville. Anyone better than the other??

Any opinions or options anyone would like to add, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Also found this one in Oz for Progressive Suspension.

Only $149....had the following write up with it;

Progressive Suspension fork springs are progressively wound for a smooth ride and more control under braking. Dual-rate springs have a step in their compression. A 10-20 spring, for example, will require 10 pounds to compress it an inch until the light coils bind, and then 20 pounds per inch. A true progressive spring is wound such that it takes 10 pounds to compress the first inch, then 11 for the next, then 12, and so on, without the sudden crossover from light to heavy that you get in dual-rate springs. Progressive Suspensions spring material is guaranteed for life against sacking or breaking, if they sack more than a quarter of an inch Progressive will replace them.

I have the springs from Progressive in my speedmaster, they were a considerable improvement over the stock springs. easy to swap out, a 20 minute job, tops.

I used the progressive rears. $250 I think? Thier website had front lowering springs for $108 if memory serves (which it sometimes does not) So the new springs would be similar in price I believe.
