Ok, let me first say WOW What the heck happend? I've been gone a few months and every thing has changed again, and I don't see a post from Daz on the front page.

Now that I've got that out of the way,

Like a Dumbass I hung my back pack on my handle bars and started the engine and let her warm up.....then I smelled something burning and saw the smoke...no dear I was not drinking...(much).
How do I get the burnt nylon off the header? help me Daz oh wizzzze one (or any one else).

It will burn off in no time. No problem.

I did something similar

I used Easy Off...BE CAREFUL and be sure to cover areas around where you are spraying. It WILL discolor painted surfaces like engine blocks but it works like a charm.

I get burnt rubber from my boots on my muffler were i touch the pipe looking for the kick stand. I get it off with acetone or laquer thinner, but It wouldn't be as well baked on as on the headers. Hope that helps.

Easy Off followed by a light touch with a razor blade and your favorite chrome polish and you'll never know it happened. Be very cautious with the Easy Off, the over-spray is nasty stuff.

Let it heat up and liquify as much as possible. Then let it cool until you can touch it and chip away carefully. Then polish any discoloration with Semichrome until gone. You're not alone. This method worked for me when I used my LSL crash bungs for foot rest and melted the heel of my Alpinestar boots to the header. It'll come of.

when the pipe is warm, some wadded up aluminum foil also helps to scrub the crud off.

When the pipe is hot just chip it away with your finger nail if you have leather hands like mine or take a flat head screw driver and use that carefully. If you do nothing, like the others said, it will just burn away!

I've heard using a nickel works well because the chrome is harder than the nickel so it won't scratch it. Whenever I've had stuff on mine, I let it cool and it just chips off easily.

Stay away from your pipe with a razor blade or screw driver. Murphy says the scratches will be around long after the burnt nylon on your pipe.
