Oops, no stabilizer

First winter for my 07 T100 and went with the philosophy of getting it out for a ride now and then so I didn't winterize the bike. Way too much of a keener. Big mistake! Too cold and too much snow. So there it has sat and will sit for realistically another month. Started up last week (I know this is not advised) Battery still works! Lesson learned- proper winterization next winter.

So now what? Should I add Stabil for the final month? Add some kind of additive/cleaner when I finally get it out for the riding season? Drain the tank? What would you do?

Modern day gasoline has a shelf life measured in weeks.

Either drain it, stabilize it, or just go burn it all out

Add some Stabil, stir it up a bit with a wooden stick or plastic stick, drain the carbs, refill them, start and run it for no more than 5-7 minutes, watching that the revs don't take off on you as it warms up.

In the spring add some MMO to the current tank and then to the next three to clean out any gunk.

If you don't have a battery maintainer, get one. Schumacher is very good and inexpensive at Auto Zone, if you have them up there.

Keep the tires filled about 5 pounds over normal and roll the bike to a different spot on the tire about once a week to prevent flat spots, [which will eventually work themselves out if you forget.]

Since winter is coming to a close you should be OK doing no more than that.

I'm not sure I would agree with the shelf life statement. I have let my 800 cc mowers sit over the winter with no stable before and they started and ran fine--same with my pickup truck. If it were me, I would put a pint or 2 of Marvel Mystery Oil in the tank and ride the bike when the weather is warm enough.

That works, too. But, Larry, where is the penance in that? At least I have suggested he do a little work to pay for his mistake!

Don't worry about it. Make sure the tank is full, put in some Stabil if it makes you feel better, and put some carb cleaner in for the first few tankfuls when the riding weather comes again.

If it turns out that the carbies are clogged, you can take that as a lesson learned and clean them, but probably they'll be alright.

Bad Boy!!!

+++1 on the cleaner. It will do the job. Hope you didnt leave 6000 mi oil in her?? Should be OK. Dont do it again tho. Oh premium gas (if it realy is) will last 10-12 mos. The gas today sure isnt what it used to be!! 30 yrs ago I used to leave my 40 ft boat w/ 100+ gal's in over the winter w/ no problems. Wouldnt do it today!! That was reg too! Be good to her & she will return the favor.

WE use Sta-Bil in everything all the time-good stuff and neve have a problem. When the toys or tools come into their season we burn the tank with Sta-Bil and on the next tank run Sea-Foam thru the system. Every time we pull carbs they are like new. MMO every now and again and last tank before storage-always.

If the engine starts the fuel is good enough. I would take it to the nearest gas station and top up.
