Another Tach Question

I've done a search for this but couldn't find an answer.
Q. I'm about to pull the trigger on buying a Drag Specialties mini tach. Does anyone know if the bonnies need the "single fire adapter"?
I've read several threads on installing these but no one has mentioned using an adapter. Most have just hooked to the negative side of the coil, ground and hot wire, or gone into the headlight bucket and wired it to the stock wiring in the headlight.
Any wisdom would be appreciated.

I just installed a Drag Specialties mini tach. I did not buy an adapter and, as far as I know, did not install one. I hooked it into the existing wiring by cutting the three wires to the OEM tach on my Thruxton. I then wired the Triumph harness to the Drag Specialties (DS) tach wires as follows:

DS red to Triumph blue
DS green to Triumph red
DS black to Triumph brown

Hope this helps.

Got a bit of a laugh on your quote, If you didn't buy one I guess you didn't install it. Just yanking your chain, thanks again for the response.
Looked at your bike, That is one hot hooligan
