Sidelight?? Wiring Help Please.

Okay...here goes. I may have been a little too gung ho, but I recently replaced my headlight bulb and when I took the wires off the "sidelight." I can't for the life of me figure out which sidelight wires go back on which sidelight prong.

There are 2 wires coming out of the housing, one is black and yellow and the other is brown and white. The two prongs on the "sidelight" are different colors too, one is bronze and the other is more silvery. I think the silver one is probably the ground connector.

I have the Triumph service manual and from the wiring diagram it seems to me that the yellow and black wire is the hot one. I guess I'm just looking for some peace of mind before I fry my headlight.

Oh yeah, and what the heck is a sidelight?? It seems to be on the bottom anyway.

Its just a weak parking light that will just drain your battery if you leave the key in the wrong position. IMO,tape off the wires and forget about them and the light.I`d push my bike 5 miles up hill before I`d leave it beside the road and walk off with the little "free motorcycle" light on.

If the wires just go to the bulb, it might not make any difference which way they are wired, but the light itself is useless. Some use it as a power source for other things.
