question about lowering guages

Hello All,
First off, GREAT SITE!!! Long time reader first time writer... Anyway, I have seen alot on lowering gauges for my Thruxton on this site, and how easy it is,
however I have not seen instructions or what is involved in the process. I would also like to do the flip and swap, Great bike Bad back. and would like any info on that as well. Hear it's easy but I guess I just can't see it.
I have only had the bike for a year got it new and just don't want screw anything up. Oh the embarrasment of taking it 40+ miles in the back of a pick-up to the nearest dealer with no bars or gauges and a pile of parts. Please help!!!

Welcome to the site! Perhaps what you are asking about is laying them flat so the gauges are angled downward lining them up with the forks. Like these.

Yes that looks like it. I have seen several pics of it done to thruxtons like mine and would like to use the stock brackets and gauges ect. I have heard that you have to flip the headlight brackets and I have also heard that it is not required

Oh ya,
Thanks for the reply LOX. Funny thing, you are the first one I have talked to on this site and I checked your personal profile and we have the same birth date... Weird...

Easy as pie. . .well easier

Just unbolt from the top, switch to the bottom bolt in through the bottom. I swithced the headlight brackets, it lowers the headlight a little too, really enhances the backbone and lines of the bike. after you do it ride it to home depot or the hardware store and get four bolts the same size but a little shorter and screw them into the top. Took me 5 minutes.

I just did it this past weekend. I used 3/8" nylon spacers from Home Depot and I also flipped and swapped my headlight brackets. I contacted D9 and he said his Bonnie brackets won't work on Thruxtons and his Thruxton bracket is still in the development stage. Bishrat has a thread with some good pics: http://www.triumphrat.net/club-cafe/...light=lowering

Here's mine:
