Talking hepco and becker hard cases for bonneville

hey everyone,

I have been in the market for saddle bags for my bonnie which is very cafed out. i have been thinkin intently on the hepco and becker hard cases . i think the hard cases would have a better look on the bonnie with a cafe style. does anyone have any comments or other ideas for bags? peace and ride safe .

My personal opinion is that the hepco bags are great touring/commuter bags. Very spendy for the set-up. Don't think they would look that good on a totally cafed bonnie, they would overpower the look of the bike. Remember it's just an opinion. If smaller throw over bags will work, I have a pair of MotoPack GS 60's on mine that I am making some supports for. New/Bonneville also has a set of supports for around $70.00. The MotoPack's are only about $120.00 with shipping.

I tend to agree with DB. I think the hard bags are a great, but expensive, system. I'm not sure how hard the HB's are to take on and off the bike. I have a fairly caffinated bike and I like using thethrow overs and stays, simply because they hold alot and are quick on/off.

+1. I've used hard luggage for the past 20 years on various bikes. It is secure, waterproof, and convenient. But I am setting up my new Bonnie with all soft luggage. It just seems more in character with this bike. There are significant trade-offs. We'll see how this goes.

For a cafe bike, I think the only H&B panniers that could work would be the 30L Juniors or the 23L Straykers. They're very good bags, and easy to put on/remove. If you aren't planning on getting a topcase (topcases seem pretty anti-cafe to me), I would go with the Thruxton H&B side racks instead of the full Bonnie three-case rack. I'd also immediately have the racks blasted and painted or powdercoated black.

I had the H/B hard bags on my bonnie for 2 years and now they're on my Versys.

They are TOUGH bags. Stronger than Givi. You can drive a pick up truck over those things and not dent them.

Look at them as a life time investment, just transferring them from bike to bike.
