I guess nobody clued you in yet on the inside factory Triumph secret about the Blacks. They produced them with 4 more HP than all the other stock Bonneville's to make them, indeed the fastest of all stock Bonneville's!

If you can get a new Black for $6k I would scoop it up in a NY Minute!

Forward controls suck in heavy stop and go traffic but as others
have mentioned, highway bars can be you're answer.
Our bonnes are light and responsive compaed to MoCo products.
You may or may not be happy. I am comming off a 03 FXSTSI
and could not be happier so good luck to you in you're quest.
Oh yeah...

Neal I used to ride HD and my first bike was a Triumph 750 Tiger also what drew me back to Triumph was the good memories of twisting roads and comfort of riding. So if you are going to give up Harleys than Give up Harleys and try to relive your youth ITS FUN. dont try to make a HD out of a Triumph. After i was willing to give up my old BIKER image ideas I found a new world of motorcycle enjoyment......ITS FUN!......and bonnys ride great just like they are Try something new-old its great Bro

I have made some stunning revalations. Someone mentioned here the bonnevilleamerica site. I seriously believe I spoke to soon. They have a custom section over there with a bunch of the baddest Triumphs I have ever seen. I was dead set on the T-100 simply because they looked like my old '77, but man those Americas and Speedmasters come with the forwards and really take to being customized. Something I see almost NO T-100 or Black owner would do. And most of you guy consider it blatsphamy! Were as chopped up Americas are the norm over there, as its one of the biggest sections. So I know I said earlier I would not consider am America, I think thats the bike I am gonna wind up with. But I guess they are all Bonnevilles...right? Heres my idea of a Triumph. Man I know I am gonna get picked on over these.

Dude
You ride what you like. I have a 79 Shovelhead, and sice i bought my 01 Bonnie, I don't ride the shovel much. It's a great bike but so f'n big and no faster than the Bonnie. The America/Speedmaster bikes are great, esp if you trim down some of the big stuff they put on there like the sprocket cover and passenger peg brackets.
No picking coming from me.

Those guys over at BA are really nice guys and they will lead you in the right direction. We take no insult over here and remember when you buy your BA or Speedy your always welcome to ride with any of us! FYI - the Speedy and the BA both use the same engine as the Bonneville.
