Cool breakdown

You guys got me scared to go far from home on my 07 bonnie black, I can't get it wet, I'm gonna break a spoke and get a flat, my footpegs are gonna fall off when I loose a C clip, my cdi box is gonna cut out on me, i'm gonna run out of gas but still have a gallon in the other side of the tank, the rubber caps are gonna pop off my carbs, did i miss anything? No really, I love my freakin bike, i've been thinking about what I would do if I did break down, I don't have a trailer, and I can't push it more than 50 yards(i'm old), what if my phone had no signal. What would you do? would you walk away from your 8000 dollar bike? Just **** I worry about...

Go ride. Have fun. If it bothers you a lot, make sure your insurance has a breakdown package, or buy one separate from your bike insurance.

Amen. You need a bike, a credit card, a cell phone and an insurance policy with a towing rider. That's it.

When you read a tech forum people aren't very likely to be writing in about nothing going wrong, are they?

I've got 18,000 on mine and never had a problem. What's to write about?

Live in the present, and not in the future. Quit worrying so much and go out and ride!

A towing policy on your insurance is a great idea. If it sets your mind at ease, you can always rent a truck and haul it back from where ever you are.

I carry the following tool kit

5mm allen wrench, I think it is under the right side cover. Oh and a phone This '02 is basically as solid as any vehicle I have ever owned, Remember a lot of problems happen to those that fuss the most, both at the bike and with the bike. Any problem I had with both the '01 and '02 were just wear related. oh by the way, nothing but 1 seat bolt has ever fallen off, no broken pegs and i go 325 and stand on them at every bump, never had any caps blown off, no computer failures, the only time It didn't start the plugs were bad from it running lean. stone cold reliable.

Ps the less you monkey with it the better it will run beyond, freeing up the exhaust and re-jetting ,and suspension upgrades, so it handles, much more radical re work than this and reliability goes down.

Sorry folks hot rodding is fun but when you turn it up you burn it down, a lot faster!, just a fact of engineering.

breakdown

Miatrella,
Join the AMA and get their "motow" package with the membership....it's a good deal.
Otherwise, just call your insurance carrier and add a roadside service rider to the policy....
Don't let the stuff you read here give you the heebie jeebies.....just get out and ride.....It is so nice to have a website that shows you what others are experiencing and the problems they have encountered....doesn't mean you are going to have all that happen to ya.....but if anything does, you can get all the help and support and answers to those problems you're ever going to need....
Bill

Trust the metal and don't mess with it. The complaints/moaning are from a small amount of riders - probably have messed with the specs. OK, Sh*t happens but you have a good reliable machine. Stop worrying.

You do hear a lot about the bikes problems here but I think that a good portion of that is repeated information and not necessarily what has happened to that individual, maybe just what someone heard or thinks that the problem is from a bombardment of evaluations here at ratnet.

It does get overwhelming with all of the info but like Old Greaser said trust in your machine, worry about things when and if it happens.
