Cam Cover Color

Has anyone seen firsthand the difference between Triumphs "painted silver" cam cover and there "polished and lacquered" piece. The difference is approx $150 ($120 vs $270). I specifically asked the parts rep at the dealer and we're not talking chrome finish. I've got an '07 Std Bonnie and all I want is to match my silver lacquered engine cases. Any help?

Thanks,

The painted one looks like just that - painted. The polished/ clearcoated will match your motor. Take it off and strip it with paint stripper and then polish and clear coat yourself - use the money elsewhere.

I agree with John, strip off your paint and polish it. However, I don't suggest clearcoating it.
It takes very little effort to go over it on occasion with Never Dull. The clear coat will eventually go bad much like the Thruxton engine cases.

Thanks for the reply and advice. I'll post pics when I get the bike further along.
