Exhaust bracket stress fractures on the Scram

I took my bike to the frame welder today, to book it in to get the plate holding the seat bolt mounts fixed, & his professional eye immediately spotted tiny stress fractures spreading from either side of the metal bracket, which hangs the mufflers off my Scrambler.
In fact there's less than an inch of solid metal holding pipes to bike!
I don't think this has anything to do with the problems caused by my B.U.T., such as the seat bolt mounting plate.
But I don't think it's a warranty issue either, as I give my bike a real hammering (way beyond manufacturers recomendations).
& my TB pipes are enough to void the warranty anyway (& possibly a contributing cause to the crack)

Anyway, I'm glad it was spotted before it failed in service (which would've been ugly).
& all should be hunky-dory by the end of next week.
However I'd recomend that all Scrambler owners check that mount, especially those with loud pipes who like to give their bikes a hard time (hello Rhodie). As the cracks are very fine & hard to see.

G'day Scratch,

Who's doing your frame welding job for you? I've had Hank's M/C Engineering in Newell St do a little job for me and he was neat enough, albeit a tad pricey!

Hi Russ.
Thanks for the advice.
I didn't know there was a choice.
I was told that Price-Rite on Sheridan St. were the only ones who did frame welding (I should stop listening to the service guy at the Trumpy dealers).
I'm already booked in with them though, so I'll stick with them.

Thumbs up

Hey, thanks for the good info. I'll keep an eye on that from time to time as I'm looking forward to doing quite a bit of riding on our local Forest Service and BLM roads with my Scrambler - once they aren't covered in 4' of snow!

Regards, Guy
