Thruxton exhaust on Bonneville?
Does anyone know for sure if the Thruxton mufflers will fit a new Bonnevile without alteration?
I did a search. One guy says yes, one guy says no, one says use a hammer.
Thanks.

Without altering or bending the pipes, no. You could try to muscle the exhaust onto the header and bolt which some have tried (which is bending). But if you look at the lengh and angle of the headers and exhausts, they are different. Could it be done, sure... done "right" without altering, no. I was going to try the same, then I decided I didnt want to halfa$$ it and am going to order the whole system.

The Thruxton head pipes are about an inch longer (before the kink) than the Bonneville counterpart. Hence, the muffler hanger bracket locations are different too.
For a proper bolt-on job, you need to swap matching pipes & mufflers between platforms. And the rearsets on the Thruxton get very close to Bonneville mufflers.

Yup thats how I found out about the lengh being different to myself. I bolted up the rearsets and they hit the kink if they are lower then half way.

Halfassed or not...I fit thrux cans on mine. It's not that much of an offset, consider it a small amount of persuation to get them to fit. If you want to order the complete system, knock yourself out, they fit regardless

Thanks for the responses.
Looks like my idea to pick up stock Thruxton mufflers that someone replaced won't work.
I like the reverse cone and slightly upswept look.
And from what I have read, I'm just about the only one that likes the stealth sound of the stock exhaust.

Thrux Exhaust
Are we talking STOCk Thrux exhaust?? If so Who would want to?? They are as restrictive as the stock Bonne exhaust. There are some nice free flowing afer makt exhaust that will make the Bonne purrr! After my gutted stock Bonne exhaust has seen its day (comming soon) I will try to seek out some Togas. That way I can go w/ the bafles or not- depending on the sound I wANT? The Emgo Dunstalls are nice as you can wrap the baffles w/ as much wrap as you want. They look nice & are pretty durable as well as VERY inexpensive! A riding bud has them & they sound real nice - look good as well! The reverse cone set look very similar to the stock Thrux set-up. The only STOCK exhaust system I have seen on a Triumph that really sounds good is on the 675 Daytona. INMO

It takes a little massaging, like Bottle-Fed said, but it will work.
I say if you like the look and want to try it...go for it!

Yes, CAPTDON, I would. Unless there is a free flowing exhast that is quiet.
In my neighborhood there are many bikes with free flowing exhausts. Most people curse them as they ride by. I prefer not to be one of them.
