Tourance vs Anakee

I've done about 1000klms on my Tourance's now, & I'm impressed with their performance.
I've had Anakee's on since I wore out the original Trailwings, & I've been through 5 rears & 3 fronts over 30K klms.
The Anakee's were very good on tar, but a bit twitchy on loose gravel, compared to the Trailwings.
& they lasted longer than the originals too.

The Tourance's are possibly even better on tar than the Anakee's (very confidence inspiring) & are easily as good as the Trailwings in the dirt, probably better (I haven't ridden much dirt on them yet).
So far, they're proving to be worth the premium they cost over the Michelins (around $60 AUD for the pair).
& from the way they've worn over their first 1000klms, I'd say that I'm going to get at least as much milage out of them, as I did out of the Anakkee's. But I'll have to wait till they're worn out to be sure.
I'll also be interested to see how the 904 kit affects tyre wear, when it goes in next month.
But that's a different topic, & probably desreves it's own thread.
What tyre's are other's using on their Scram?
& how are you liking them?

Old Scratcher, I have read previuos posts indicating that the Tourance's are better on the road than the Trailwing's. Glad to hear that they are superior to the Trailwing's off road as well.
I'll be picking up a pair as soon as I wear out the originals. Maybe I'll figure out which shocks to to get (see other thread "Srambler Shocks") by then.

Tourances on my Scrambler as well, so far only 4000km. Very happy with them, much more so than with the bridgestones. Thinking about trying some Pirelli Scorpion Syncs next. But then again I might just go with the Metzelers.

tyres

Scratch,

That's interesting that the trail tyres were better on loose gravel. I have to ride a couple of days in the Pyrenees in July, mostly on rough trails. I had thought about TKC80, but I have to ride there from Scotland first. I had a pair of the TK's on a Varadero and didn't like them on the road. The only thing about the Trailwings is the buzzy noise, I tried Conti Escapes on the old bike before just fitting road tyres.

Pardon the big daftie also in the picture, but this is the only picture of the Escape on the front I have:

I managed to ride on this gravel surface with the Trailmings though, didn't fall off neither:

I don't get to do any scrambling except through traffic unfortunately. I'm on only my third rear tire and my second front; I wore out the rear trailwing in about 4000 miles (6500-ish km) and a Metzeler lazertec (sp?) in closer to 4500 - I have switched to Metzeler Marathon (aka ME800 I think) on the rear (lazertec still on the front).

The compound is harder on the marathon, but I feel more confident on it all the same. I chalk that up to the sidewall being much stiffer than the previous tires. I've ground the pegs a couple times with the new rubber even though I felt I could lean it over more if I needed to - never got that kind of confidence from the other tires (especially not the trailwings; they scared me).

From everything I have heard I should expect to get at least half again the life out of this tire too; not bad for basically the same price as the lazertec (I got for ~$140 USD).

I doubt they'd be much, if any, good offroad but I heartily endorse them for pavement.

I've gone about 11,000 miles on my rear Tourance which I am replacing this weekend. Very nice tires. You sacrifice a little stopping distance on the street, but you gain a lot more confidence in dirt and gravel. Well, I did anyway. Of course I was coming from Lasers.
