How good is the quality of fiberglass fenders & parts such as made by Air Tech?
I'm interested in a weight-loss program for my bike and an am looking at lighter weight parts, starting with some bobbed-style fiberglass fenders.

How good is the quality of the fiberglass Air Tech products?

Are there any other aftermarket manufacturers of fiberglass bodywork?

Thanks.

Hi there,
I purchased the bobbed fenders from air tech, they are really good for fiberglass, they are gel coated and only need a small amount of pre paint prep. all you need to do is drill the fixing holes, light sand and away you go

I have the stuff from Moto-Twin (Bella Corse had them here) in England and the fit and finish is great. I have been using them for three years now without any stress marks or breaks. Nice itmes.

If you want to save weight, change the exaust. It ways in excess of 40lbs. The Zard pipes are about quarter the weight. Every 7 lbs savings equals 1 horsepower. Downside, these pipe are pricey.

fiberglass vs steel fenders isn't that much of a weight reduction, it would be more of a money-reduction IMHO.

Scot's right, drop the exhaust, Bubs are another nice light alternative, bob the stock fenders, etc.

These guys make unusually light for Fiberglass.
Even lighter would be their Carbon fiber, but at a much higher cost

I'm going to try the most cost effective way to gain horsepower - skipping the cake and cookies and start jogging. I can probably lose 20lbs before spring (+3 horsepower!)

I've found that it's much easier to add bolt ons

Lets look at this realistically.
Going on a diet can be just as expensive, the gym, the shakes, or Weight watchers, etc etc is not cheap
So taking off heavier stock pieces and adding lighter FRP or CF. Then selling off the heavier pieces on ebay = BEER MONEY.
The bike is lighter and looks cool.
Your happy and not crabby from being on a diet.
HENCE everyone around you loves you and you have a cool looking bike.
Thats a win win for me

this is bullsh!t. you're talking about losing 5 pounds and replacing it with 4 pounds.

you've already got the 904 kit and flatslides, hack the stock fenders, slim down the stock seat, get an alloy rear sproket, get alloy floating rotors, get a smaller tank, lose 20 lbs yourself, get a smaller headlight, ditch the turnsignals, get some mag wheels, there is nothing to be gained (lost?) in fiberglass fenders
