Mike's XS mini-speedo light help

I installed my speedo and tapped into the low beam wire and the ground. light works great until you turn on the headlight to bright. Can anyone tell me how I can remedy this problem?

I tapped the ground wire on the headlight plug for the ground, but the gauge light wire I just found a wire that was hot with the ignition on. Check it with a meter or test light but I think when you switch to high beams the other wire is hot to light the high beam filament, and not the low beam filament. Meaning I don't believe both are filaments ever on at the same time. I've got my bucket off to get it powder coated and plan on cleaning up my mini gauge wire mess somewhat, especially the diodes. I did notice that all my wires for my speedo are connected to one OEM plug in the headlight. I plan on taking good pics as I go.
