Brought her home today. She's beautiful but a little weepy
Picked up my 07 Bonnie today and she is beautiful. Silver with tacho, center stand, TORs, knee pads, A/I removed, tool-less seat and side cover bolts. I'll updatte my profile and post pictures soon.
However, after the 40 mile ride home I noticed what may be an oil leak at the front "push rod tube" and on the base of the left cylinder. The dealer suggested it may be cosmoline weeping from crevases with her first real heat so I cleaned her up and we'll see what happens tomorrow. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks from a Newbie

cosmoline "leaks" are very common. Clean the area and ride away. If it keeps up then you may have a problem.

I noticed the same thing on mine, mentioned it to the dealer at the first service and was told it was some of the "preservative coating" put on for protection. They cleaned it off and all was well.

My 07 did the same.. Thought I had a oil leak after my first long ride but after I clean it off a couple of time it never showed again.. Figured it must have been some sort of external coating getting hot and running rather than a leak.

Mine too
After my first ride I thought the oil cooler had sprung a leak!. A puddle of 'oil' in the recess and the front of the crankcase. Cleaned it up. No more 'leaks'. It was the preservative. Phew!.

Yes - I'm going through that right now. Rode it into my garage at the end of the first ride & it was smoking pretty bad. Stinks too. The dealer says that they do try to clean that stuff off, but I guess they can't get all of it.
My question is, why is this typical with Triumphs? I can't remember it happening with any of the new Japanese bikes I've owned.

My dealer cleaned it several time and really good to avoid this. He said that customer think the new bike is leaking oil if it is not cleaned well. It is the anti-rust spray they use for shipping. Simple Green cleaner will get rid of all that stuff.

I'm sure it would. But... It is minus 6 degrees F here right now. Next week it might get up to 20 degrees F toward the end of the week. Probably be about 2 months before I can get the hose out. Funny thing, its the same temps outside the Triumph dealership 10 miles away.
So they did what they could by trying to wipe the stuff off. I don't expect them to run a water hose inside their workshop. If I don't get enough rides in to burn the stuff away first, I'll hit it with some S100 when it gets warm enough to play with water outside.
Winter IS stupid.

Thanks guys. It freaked me out to think my new baby was quite that retro. I'll check again after my next good ride.
