need advice

Newbie question here: Been thinking about getting K&N filters. Is it possible to install them with the air box still intact? If so, does anyone have pics? Would be very interested in seeing them. Don't think I want to get rid of the box just yet. Also, I believe the bike is running rich??? Cuts out sometimes at red lights. Just shuts off. Like a click...nothing.. Cranks right up...I had the bike rejetted once when I had the AI removed and Emgos installed. Maybe too rich? Please...any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

A K&N filter will fit directly into the airbox as the factory paper filter. What is the present jetting size? How many turns out on your idle mixture? Has the restrictor plate in the airbox been removed?

You could always add a K&N filter or UNI foam one to the airbox (not the pods or cones). Thats what I did and had very good results. But I was getting the same thing where I was going along just fine and at a stop it would want to die... I was running lean though. I ended up going up to a 42 pilot jet and it seems to have cured it. I am wanting to go for a dyno soon, but the white crap all over the place it restricting my passage.
Edit: Oh and I also removed the snorkel and restrictor plate, so that had an effect in the lean conditions for me.

Isle de Triumph,

As NewOldSkool said, I'm thinking lean. If you add a K&N in might make it worse. Do you know what size the pilot jet is and how many turns out the mixture screw is?

NewOldSkool, things are pretty white here to. I feel the weight.

Maybe your carbs need to be synchronized? That could also cause the bike to die at red lights. How many miles since the last time that was done?

not sure

Not sure what the present jets are or mixture turns. I wasn't told when I picked it up.(forgot to ask)...I might have it on my receipt though.... The bike is a 2007 and 1300 miles so it really hasn't had much work done to it.

I synced up my carbs right after thinking it might have had something to do with it but no. I even checked the cables after reading that it might be something with that. But that was my case, IdT check your carb balance like RD said. I would see if turning out the A/F screws 1/2 turn helps. If it does, then yes you were lean.
