front tire worn out before rear

This seems odd to me but my front tire's worn to the tread wear indicators before the rear.
2006 thrux stock tires lazertec front z2 rear.
I keep the pressure at 33 front 38 rear.
ride mostly backroads w/ a mix of twisty stuff & not so twisty.
I weigh about 150 lbs.

any specualtion as to why this occurs?

How many miles on the tires? Post some pics if you can. I've never heard of that happening and it sounds like you've been keeping after tire pressure.

More front brake applied, you're using the front tread to stop. I replaced my front many miles before the rear.

keep it up.

I always wear out the front first, this just means you are using the front brakes correctly. no worries.

how do you sit too far foward on a dual sport?

I have always worn the front first, even on a bike like the v-strom and you cant crawl the tank on a dual sport. still don't worry

Replace in pairs anyway

UIsually it's my front , but not always. I replace in pairs anyway since I'm usually changing brands/types, etc (unless one gets killed by a rode hazard early on).

At 8300 miles, that's pretty good. Not to worry.

Exclamation Be careful

"I do use mostly the front brake. only use the rear to come to a stop once i'm under 10mph".

That sounds really dangerous as well as contraindicitive of everything I was taught. I believe that both brakes should be used for every stop. The front will do a larger percentage to be certain. In a panic situation, a lock up of the front wheel/tire is nearly impossible to recover. That puts you on the ground. I'm sure that a Google search will reveal loads of articels on proper mototcycle barking technique. I am also a huge proponent of the MSF course.

Cheers,

SK
