Jetting question for pod filters

I put on my pods today and removed my airbox.

Currently I am running 125/42 with Thuston pipes with a baffelectomy and additional hole drilled. When I enter this infor into the jetting calc on Pat's site, it tells me I should be running 154 mains.

Does that sound right to anyone that is running a similar set up?

More like 145 mains, I should think - at least, that would be a good place to start.

I have a similar setup on my wife's 07 Bonnie (K&N pods, Predators, AI removed) and research and suggestions from good folks here have led me to a "baseline" of 145 mains, 42 pilots, 2-1/2 to 3 turns out on the mixture screws. Did the work just as weather was turning nasty here in Boston, so I haven't dialed it in yet, but FWIW. - BrianK

I think 150+ will be a little fat for your setup depending on how open your pipes are. I'd start with a 140 and see how it runs.

I agree with sweat: 140 mains, 1 shim, stock pilot's. That is the set up I had on my 865 before the carb's change.

im with sweat and rob thats to rich i would say 135 to 140 One thing that you need to know if your to rich you might not know it bike will still pull ok just wont have the high end power. But if you get to lean bike will be dead on top end you can feel the bike pick up when you let off at wot to about 7/8 throttle. To rich = bad gas milage and less hp.

Why the need for a shim? I just installed the NARK with the Sprints and want to understand the RPM range for shims.

the niddles are tapered on the end adding shims makes it run richer when the slide starts to move .It dont do any thing to it once you get the slide all the way up at wot.It will take out some bog when you open the throtte and may make it run better at part throttle. Its one of them things you have to play with to get it right.DYNO-JET kits come with niddles you can change a c-clip and do the same thing with as do the after market carbs.

jcline8,
I see a lot of info on your ride except the year...if it is an 865, I would recommend starting where Sweat says...if it is a 790, I would recommend starting with 145 main jets.
