Rpm

Assuming your engine has been broken in (you can take it to red line, 7,500 rpm), it really depends on what kind of riding you are doing, how agressive you want to be, whether you care about gas mileage etc. When just riding around town on my 06 Speedy, taking it easy, I ususally shift at around 3,500-4,000- 4,300 rpm. If I need to make quick get-a-way or blast past a cager whose driving I don't trust, or just push her, I will take her up to 5,500 - 6,800 rpm. Listen to your engine, she'll let you know. Also, don't want to be stressing engine in too low an rpm when in 2nd or higher gear. I don't like to let her get below 3,000. Again much of this depends on riding style.

Have fun!

Terry has answered this well.
I usually shifted between 4500-5500 depending on the type of ride.
The Phantom never saw the red line. The engine was screaming by then. No need for that.

Mine likes to idle along around 3500-4000 and I usually shift in the 4500-5000 range (gives me the best fuel mileage) unless I'm accelerating hard in a burst of hooliganism. That said, these bikes seem to run very well with minimal vibration anywhere from 3500 to 5500 over long stretches.

Smile Gear Change RPM

Not long after I brought my Speedmaster home in 2004, someone on the BonnevilleAmerica.com forum posted that shifting could/should be done at about 5k rpm.

Some of the best advise I remember ever getting.

These bikes are made for aggressive riding - it's part of their heritage!

Really though, if you keep that in mind, you will be much more comfortable doing what ever you find yourself needing to do, at any given rpm, in any given gear. It's hard to go wrong there, but it sure is fun winding them up!

I usually like to shift up around 5 grand, mostly because I like the sound. And the engine seems to like it there as well.

5000 works for me, sometimes higher.

Usually around 3500 revs very rare to go past 5000. Older speedmasters / america's may have different front sprocket sizes and with the different engine capacity's too you are never going to get an agreed figure
