So simple, even a ....could do it!

Alright, so I'm a lawyer. I barely got through math. I have owned my share of scoots, but have considered myself blessed to have access to qualified mechanics.

My bonnie is the first bike I have attempted any performance mods on my own. With the help of everyone here, I have been able to do the following:

1. Drill out the rear baffle on the stock pipes.

2. Put a shim under the needle

3. Change the jets.

4. Make a polaris bell mouth, put in a K&N air filter

5. Remove the restrictor plate

6. Add the stock crash bars.

I have the 19T sprocket which is my next task along with putting on the TORS when they arrive.

I feel a real sense of accomplishment and a little different appreciation of the Bonnie than my other bikes. It's like now I know her better than my other bikes.

The point of the post is this: If I can do it, anyone can do it. So for those of you who are on the edge about performing your own mods: Trust in the advice here on TriumphRat and go for it!!!!!!!

I think two things come into play here, as you mentioned, the quality of advice here is second to none, but also, and I think even more so for the `modern classics', is the fact the bike lends itself to wrench turning.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but as far as motorcycles go, these are not by any strech the most complex to work on.

I am glad you have had success with your mods and I share that same sense of accomplishment, I have just ordered new sprokets and a new chain, this will be a big test for me as I have not done anything this involved to date!

haha!! I went to law school too and S.U.C.K. at math.

Anyways, I've changed bars and mirrors, debaffled my exhaust, swapped in a K&N and changed my main jets from 110's to 118's.

All of it is so easy. Just don't strip the threads on your carb bowls!

Good job!! You did the necessary ones to make a Bonne a Bonne. I think the Togas will be my choice when the time comes- I have heard that the TORS are quite loud? I think (I ) would stop there as I have done & enjoy her as she is? I am & she is running better every day! When I scratch/ damage the cans- I will probably do the TOGAS as they have a removable baffle & wont pisss off the neighbors. The gutted stock cans sound better every ride, but will need replacement some day (Fla salt air), but till then they do the job nicely.
My main problem is RUST-CORROSION. Feel lucky you dont live near salt air- Bonne's dont like it!!!

Good job. Glad it is working for you.
It doesn't matter if the job is hard or not, the fact that you gave it a go and pulled it off make it so much sweeter.
Have fun.
