Tank bag recommendation?
With a brand new Scrambler now sharing the garage - I'm patiently waiting for all the snow and ice to vanish from the roads... Impatiently perhaps...
What tank bag works well? Looking for something that fits the Scrambler tank well, has a see-through map pouch and is big enough for a rain suit and a few more goodies. Never had a magnetic tank bag, only the strap-on type with my old bike - the bag went with that bike.
Photos of the bag on your bike? Bonnie or Scrambler... Either way.
Thanks, Guy

G'Day Guy, I just acquired a MotoDry mini tank bag from Santa! It's magnetic but does come with straps also, although I'm not going to use them because the magnets are all you need. I think it has a good shape for the tank and is not too big, although it does expand a little. I'm not sure how much room a rain suit takes up but but it seems to have plenty of room and a clear pocket to fit a GPS or small map? Sorry I dnt have a photo but you could GOOGLE it and see if it fits your requirements.....?

I just got a Cortech Super Mini Magnetic Tank Bag for xmas... quite compact, enough to carrie a few things like your cell, garage opener, etc and a rain suit... Definitely not very effective for long trips but definitely the perfect addition for a day ride or commuting to work...

I bought a used Triumph tank bag on Ebay in excellent condition. I wouldn't dream of giving Triumph what they ask for a new one. It's big enough, has a clear, detachable map pocket and detachable waist bag and rain cover.
All the best.

Here is a thread with a few people (including myself) discuss the Triumph Tank Bag: http://www.triumphrat.net/bonnie-own...pictures.html?
It should fit your (stated) need, but is not magnetic. Personally, I love mine.

I decided to buy the Triumph bag for my new Bonnie. I had a good magnetic bag that I used with my Suzuki VStrom (let it go when I sold the bike). It worked fine. But one thing I thought about is that a magnetic bag is much more susceptible to a "snatch & grab" theft if you leave it on the bike when you walk into a convenience store during a ride break. And carrying the bag can sometimes be inconvenient. Since the mounting pad for the Triumph bag isn't that easy to detach quickly, and the bag is specifically designed for a relatively low sales volume bike to begin with - it is less likely to disappear if you turn your back on it for a few minutes.
I also liked the size of the bag and the expandable feature. Additionally, I noticed that map pockets are starting to vanish from many of the new magnetic tank bag models - darn GPS influence I guess. I still need a map pocket.
Just some random thoughts that influenced my choice, for whatever they are worth.

Mrs. Santa bought me the Nelson Rigg CL-300 Mini Magnetic Tank Bag. It looks great but I have yet to try it out. I am not excited about the possibility of scratching my tank so I might have to noodle that one out inside the Think Tank! I will update you all after I figure this out. Maybe some of that clear protective crap that my wife puts over the iPod screen and Blackberry screen might work on the tank? Nah that sounds lame. I am going to try and fabricate some kind of clip holder inside one of the side covers that can hold my drivers license, insurance card, credit cards, AAA, ah hell maybe can hold my wallet!

Kahedo tank bag
I bought the Kahedo bag that ggRAT recommended and I'm very happy with it.
Certainly not the cheapest, but looks great on the bike, very secure with the magnets, and expands to the size of the backpack I was using to get to work.

Hedge, I have the same concern... I just ordered a clear tank protector from thankslapper. It is for the Thruxton, but should work on Scrambler as well (and the bonnie)... will post pics and feedback one it arrives and I put it on.
PS I have a similar set up for my Speed Triple and has been great so far ...
