80 to 90 in reasonable comfort
OK, I've read about guys ripping at 80 plus MPH "all day" and I've read about some of the screens etc. for protection. My question is what are some good set ups (clothing, screens & helmet combos) that will get me to running 80 to 90 in relative comfort? Currently I have no screen, a Nolan N30 retro helmet, and Triumph Rochester jacket so I know I'm not set up for speed. What I'm interested in are any ideas on increasing comfort through the above mentioned variables or other factors not mentioned. Creativity will be rewarded! As always thanks for answering my questions in advance. Cheers!

I have a Givi 603 screen with an adjustable Winglet with the "air spoiler" on top.
Not only made it much easier to ride all day even in strong head winds, but also made it much quieter. You can adjust the Winglet even while riding. The Givi attaches to the bars easily and has many adjustments.
It just so happens that I sold my bonnie and am selling the Givi and Winglet combined for only $90, buyer pays shipping. Also comes with to side Winglets.

Installing a 19 tooth counter sprocket makes cruising down the highway a little more comfortable... IMO.

I have a Dart screen and Suomy Spec R1 helmet. The screen helped 20% over no screen at all, and the helmet, really light and extremely stable at speed. That helped another 40%. So, yeah, on a day with little or no cross or headwind, I could run 80-90 INDICATED. Jackets, as long as they do not balloon out and fit fairly well shouldn't be an issue. Mine is a good old fashioned leather Highwayman replica. Fit is snug and zips up tight.

Rear-sets will put you're body leaning forward into the wind Vs being blown back and hanging on white knuckled to the bars.

If you like to ride with no windshield, try a set of lower handlebars, with or without the rearsets. I'm 5'8", with 32" sleeve length, so the sport touring bars from MotoTwin work perfectly for me, especially at speed. I toured 5000 miles with them in 2006, stock saddle, no windshield. But I have to admit, that more than once, I looked jealously at Grebmrof's 2001 Bonnie, outfitted with Triumph windshield, K&Q saddle, sheepskin, and Triumph tank bag.
We planned this ride so we'd spend as little time as possible on Interstate Highway. We rode Rt 160 across nearly all of Kansas, and it was almost like we had our own two lane superhighway. No traffic to speak of. On the return trip where we split off, I did run one day of 570 miles from LaCross to Wauseon Ohio on 100% Interstate. So we were probably running between 60-70 most of the time, except for Interstate.
The only reason I missed a windshield was due to the unseasonably cool weather over most of the trip. Had it been in the 70s and 80s, I'd have been one happy rider.
I rode wearing a full face Nolan helmet with flip up chinguard (Model N100 I think).
So here's two identical bikes outfitted totally differently that made the same trip.

No Windwhield - Low MotoTwin Bars

Triumph Windshield - Stock Bars (or almost like stock)

Here's the MotoTwin Bars (from their website)

A small fairing can make a big difference:
$49 from Chaparral. Works great with handlebars that are lower than stock.
