Lost a plastic side cover today
Boo hoo. I've read about this happening. I even punched holes in the lower part of the tabs and used clips to avert such an event. But since it never happened (and since I imagined it never would), what did I do? Remove the clips! While cruising along at 90 MPH on my scrambler today, I felt something something hit my foot. I figured it was my imagination, until I went downstairs for my nightly admiration session. So there ya have it.

Sorry for your loss. But, look at the bright side: you can order a set of Chrome side covers

When I had my scrambler, i had to replace a side cover. There not cheap, I think one was like 180- thru madss. Maybe if you retrace your ride, you'll find it not broken or run-over.

I don't know if it will help, but it looks like someone is parting out an '05 Bonnie on ebay. Sort motorcycle parts by the word Bonneville. It might be worth your while to drop that person a line.

thanks for the help. It fell off on an LA freeway, I doubt it's still intact. As for the Bonny cover, it's the right side and they are a different shape.

The right side panel is smaller as it has to be configured w/ the higher pipes. Its smaller and rectangular in shape.

Oh Mate, I'm sorry to hear this - I lost mine in October 2006 just after I got my Scrambler, on a very windy ride down south. I wrangled with Triumph - to no effect - for months, and only replaced it through the kindness of Parker Bauer from Florida (Thanks again mate!!!) who sent me a very slightly scuffed one he had replaced. They cost $476 down here. Triumph refused my warranty enquiry, and ignored my letter to them, despite this being a relatively common occurrence (these covers have flown off, or nearly so, on at least 6 riders I know of, from Bovie in Birmingham to guys in Oz, and the US!) Mine is now zip-tied on and ain't going nowhere again. What a pain in the ass...
Sorry about your loss Malibu - we should get a list of folk who have had this happen going, and pester Triumph...
cheers, Pat

Thanks Doc. I did actually go to try to find it this morning. No luck. I ordered one from Triumph. $190—which I guess is better than what you paid. Unless our dollar is even weaker than I think. I have an idea. We should all pitch in $50 and get a die made and then we can all have metal ones made. I think all we'd need is 100 of us or so to get it going. What a rip-off huh?
