What does it mean?

I am going through Bonnevilles on Ebay. What does T100 or T120 mean? I know what the T100 is and what it has that the standard Bonneville doesn't but what do the numbers mean?

If memory serves, T120 was on older Bonneville designation. I had a 1967 Daytona which was a T100. Currently the Bonnies are T100 which is I believe a model number reference. I'm sure that some of the senior members will ring in with a definitive answer.

Cheers,

SK

P.S. I miss my '67

Model numbers are more to do with engine ccs. But if you posted this in the vintage section some of those guys could break it down for ya.

The new t100 is just a name taken from the old.
The old Triumph t100, t120, t140, (t150 3 cylinders)(t160 3cylinders)
got there names from speed records set at the salt flats.

T-100 = 500cc twin
T-120 = 650cc dual carb twin
T-140 = 750cc dual carb twin
T-150+T-160 = 750cc triple

I don't know why manufacturer's do this. It just makes it more complicated - HD included. But in going with what you said, the T100 name must just be "borrowed" as another forum member mentioned because the new T100 ain't no 500 Twin!

I'll understand this yet! I am off to read the link that was just posted which I am sure will just leave me more confused....LOL
