Beston GT grips...

I wasn't sure which thread it was, but someone was on about not being able to get Gran Tourismo grips for 1" bars.

You can get them on eBay from Classic Cycle Parts - "NOS British Triumph BSA Beston Gran Turismo Grips 5.25" long for 1" bars - easily & relatively inexpensively.

They ship quickly, and the only quirk is their way of auctioning things seems pretty stupid to me, it's hard to find the size & length you wantn due to poor descriptions, meaning you have to search a bit. Da*n nuisance, but there you go.

No affiliation blah blah blah...

Alex,

You've got to be very careful that you get a 1" ID grip for the clutch side and a 1-1'/8" ID grip for the throttle side. Just about every 1" grips on eBay are 1"&1". Your source may have the right sizes... I don't know.

What I can say for sure is that I now have a -renewable- source for the Beston GT grips for all models of Hinckley twins. All are currently in-stock.

They're not really padded. Like the originals of the 70's they have hollow air chambers, but the plastic is too hard for them to have a padded feel like the old ones. They do have a much better feel to the material tho. It's VERY sticky without feeling the least bit sticky if that makes any sense. Guess you have to try them to understand. In any case i love em. And yes, they DO come in 1" and always have, so i don't know why someone would have said they didn't unless they weren't looking at the ebay guy's inventory. Or maybe he just didn't have the 1" ad up at the moment. They DO time out and he has to put them back up, so there is sometimes a short period where things may not be found.

Thanks for the quick reply dazco. I've actually been looking for these myself to put onto my Thruxton. I knew if I'd just sit patiently somebody on here would come up with them.

Hi Mike,

Good point re the sizing, and yes the grips that I got were 1" & 1.1/8".

Had a look on your site and didn't see anything similar - they are not the same as your vintage grips.

Alex,

Oh, just one of the many items I have yet to get around posting on my site. Once this last bit of Xmas shipping is done, I'm going to take a few days off to snap photos and post new stuff.

And I want to make it clear that I have not researched this one particular vendor on eBay, so I have no idea of what exactly they are selling. Excuse me if I implied otherwise.

/Mike

[EDIT: No, not the same as the Harley grips. These are the Beston GT grips, aka: Football Grips.]
