Probably very functional, but it's BUTT-UGLY.

Clash

Late '70s- early '80s styling (clearly a clone of the Vetter WIndjammer) on a bike designed to look like it was made in the mid-60s.

I'm certain it gives marvelous protection. And kudos to you for what had to be a good bit of a fabrication project. But not my cup o' tea.

I went with a 1966 vintage Bates 700A:

On Second Thought...

You know, the more I look at that, the more I like it in a "You could ride that from Anchorage to Tierra Del Fuego" sort of way. Very businesslike and functional. Cover the fairing in stickers from every country in the Western Hemisphere and coat the thing in mud and road grit. Ride around in a beat up Aerostitch or a waxed Belstaff.

I opened the thread to insert an "are you kidding" response, but that fairing isn't half bad. Kinda R100RS like. Wouldn't mind having something like that around for winter...

PS, bmetz, great looking bike. That fairing looks VERY Harley-like to me. Not necessarily a bad thing - I have a Deuce in the garage - just what comes to mind. How's it work?

Wanna revise my simile for tommer's fairing from R100RS to more R100RT-like - actually, more like a Vetter Windjammer or even a Luftmeister. But I like it. Which surprises me!

What kind of riding are you doing?

Can't help to ask, seeing knobbies with a fairing.
Nice fab job on the lower fairing.

The January '08 issue of Motorcyclist magazine has a short article on "Whatever happened to Craig Vetter" with a pic of him standing next to one of his windjammer fairings back in the 70's. After a two decade hiatus, he has returned to the motorcycle industry.

The Parabellum Scout fairing is protective of the upper body, but not the legs. It is very aerodynamically stable and I find I can ride 4 times as far in a day and be less tired.

I think fairings are a great idea. I'm looking for a way to mount the windshield from this '55 Buick onto my bike.
