tire question???? help

this may be a stupid question, but I just got a new back tire for the scrambler, a Metzler Tourance 140/80/17, is this an OK size???? stock is 130/80/17. is this the wrong size? I thought I was going wider, but like a idiot I forgot to check if I was really going taller.
has anyone tried these and if so, how do hey like them?????? thanks for the help!

The numbers are width, then the percentage of the width that's the height. 130/80 is 130mm wide, 104mm tall. Your new 140/80 is 112mm tall. You've gained approx. 3/8" in height and 7/16" in width. Should be fine but it never hurts to take a close look.

I put a 140 on the back of mine. No probs, and looks a little better. I cant say it performs better.

I agree a wider profile will raise the height of the rear tyre and that can be a very good thing, i had ducaties and jap sports bikes in the past, and by raising the rear end 20mm realy did change the steering geometry over the stock set up, the front end seemed to turn into corners a lot quicker and the thing felt like it was on rails, it would be interesting to see if anyone has had a handleing or steering improvement with the tyre changes..

From the name Tourance, I'm guessing that they're a road-biased touring tyre. Is that what you intend to use them for? I'd be interested to hear what you think of them, & how much wear you get out of them. I'm looking for a touring tyre, for my trip to Tassie next year. One that can eat up long distance runs, & give better wear than my normal hoops (Michelin Anakee's)
So please let us know how you go with them, & what you think of the size change.
Thanks
Scratch

I just meant, that to me, the size does not make a notable difference in the way the bike rides. As far as tires themselves, the stockers on mine were metzlers, and have been replaced with dunlop gt501. These are both good choices , imho. I have no riding time on tourances tho
