silencers

Hi guys, I have just refound my love for motorcycles again after loads of years of jap bikes (16-41) after test riding a bonneville in fareham hants the other week. Ashamed to admit it but it was the first time that I had ridden a brit bike....anyway I bought a stock T100 (2005 - 2500 miles) and it sounds bland, the dealer that supplied it has also some silencers that have been cut, baffles reduced, welded & rechromed, which he is giving me. Do you think these will be any good or can you recommend after market cans, the test bike was a re jetted and re piped triumph siencer bike, which I thought was excellent.

Take some time and read some of the older posts here all sorts of questions and answers on pipes. You can find a thread here that has several different sound clips of pipes. I run D&Ds but they are very loud and a recent post says the BUB 2x2s are even louder so the site is wide open read away. And congrats on your toy .

If they are freebies - take em and run with em, if you don't like them sell and get another type.

Welcome Justin, Mototwin Stainless Silencers are the best available in the Uk, only my opinion, others will disagree. Take a look at Mototwin website [you need to email them for a sound clip of the pipes] A bit pricey at £410 but they are stainless steel with 10 year guarantee and are reversed megaphone type rather than the standard peashooters. Norman Hyde also does aftermarket pipes. There are a lot available in the USA but not sure of quality or possible high costs of shipping.

Pipes

A friend I ride w/ got $49 Emgo reversr megs from Jc Whitney or? They sound nicer than any $400 pipes I haveheard!! I just have the gutted stock shooters & they sound fine to me & didnt have to rejet as well. Runs awesome, & doesnt bother the neighbors too much. A nice original stock sound. Can make them as loud as you want- just drill more holes in the restrictor plates. I think I did 4 on ea side.& cut off the last 2" w/ the baffle in it!! Try that 1st. If you like it- savwed some $$!! When my stockers go I will do the emgos. FG wrapped so they can be adjusted as for sound.I like the deep muffled sound- not the sewing machine or the ones that set off casr alarms!! Try the stockers 1st- they really do sound nice!!

Silencers

Thanks for the replys guys, I picked up the freebee pipes yesterday, they were somewhat neglected but after an hour with a cloth, polish and thumbnail to remove rust and road spots they looked good. They have no inscription except 'not for road use' and are approx 3'' shorter than the stock silencers with no baffles at all, does that sound familiar to anyone? It took about half an hour or so to fit them and they lined up well, all I had to do was transfer the gromets. By this time it was about 8.00pm and -4 degrees in Hampshire, but I couldn't resist a quick blast along the A272.....wow I hope I can get away with it but I reckon the local bobby will be asking for a chat but untill then I shall enjoy the 'grin factor'.
