Scrambler owner seeking info on shocks and barkbusters

Hello all,
This is my first post, and I want to start by saying that I have thoroughly searched the forums on both topics I'm going to ask about.

First up:
Like many have already discovered, the suspension is somewhat lacking on the modern retros. I have found various posts regarding shocks, but wanted to get some pros/cons/comparisons between a few of the more cost conscious offerings.
I'm not looking to upgrade to Ohlins or Works, as they are out of my price range. I don't want to go over $400 for the pair.
With that in mind, I have found:

YSS Z302TRL from bellacorse
Hagon (if they have a model in scrambler length)
Progressive (I believe they only have one model that fits the Scrambler)
Ikon 7614 or ? (not sure these are even still available?)

I guess I'm looking for recommendations on what's gonna give the best bang for the buck. I don't know where progressive falls into the mix, as they are only about $200/pr., so may not be much of an improvement?

I do plan on doing some "off-road", light trails and such. Durability, quality, adjustability are all something that I want to consider.

Second topic:
I'm looking for info on barkbusters that may fit these bikes without extensive modifications. It seems lever clearance is always the major hurdle with any bike. Does anyone know which brand/model gives the most clearance?

So far I am considering the following:
Moose Aluminum
Tusk D-Flex
Maier Woods Pro
Cycra Pro Bend

I didn't find much regarding this on the forums, and what I did find was inconclusive. Regarding other bikes, the above have been mentioned as providing more clearance than brand x. But I'm sure there's some dimensional variations even amongst them.

TIA, blackplag

Many people here have Hagons, mostly the Nitro $500 model for the Scrambler/Thrux.Some swear by them,I swear at them or swear about them. IMO way to stiff and expensive. As for Progressives,I have the model made for the HD Sportster on my bike and I will have them on the bike til the end. They need small, thin plastic or nylon sleeves to fit the Bonnie`s mounting posts, but are available in lengths from 12 to 14" for $260.or less. I went with the "light" springs at 75/120lbs but several choices are available there too.Mine are an inch shorter than stock Bonnie at 12.5" but the ride is smooth and controlled and on the second notch of preload, the bike will only bottom out on the rubber stoppers on only the most violent pothole . Good luck, and welcome aboard.

I just installed Ikon 7610s and am happy with them, a big improvement over the stock item.

Don't forget to put new springs in front.

Thanks rodburner and baltobonneville for your replies.
I plan to do fork springs as well, either Hagon or Ikon.

Anyone have experience with YSS brand shocks?

How does the Hagon Classic line compare to these?

Also, if someone has info on bark busters that fit, I'd love to hear from you!
