Automatic chain oiler (cost-free) modification - sort of.....

Since the removal of the airbox, I routed the crankcase breather pipe to terminate in the small gap between the gearbox and swingarm. On retrospect, this is not a good idea as oil vapour fumes could end up on the tyre. Oil deposits were found on the swingarm.

You have heard of the Scottoiler Automatic Chain Lubrication system. Here I present the Suttoiler version LOL. Any oil vapour fumes landing on the chain can't do any harm, can it????

Like what you did.

I did something similar. I have a squeeze bottle with a tube that goes through a hole on top of my chain guard right over the chain.

I stuffed a few pieces of plastic at the end of the tube. So when I squeeze the bottle, the tube fills with oil and slowly drips on the chain as I ride.

Once in a while I clean the front sprocket area.

Rob,a little off topic, but you need to get down to your local trucker`s store [lorry store?] and get one of those big chrome lug nut covers for that countershaft nut.I saw some over here that were pretty thick walled and held on with an Allen head screw.Maybe a dollop of epoxy just to make sure.

After a couple of hundred miles road testing, I can confirm that there is enough oil vapour escaping from the crankcase to keep the chain nicely moist. The few rust spots seen in the photo have disappeared.
