The honda F3 manual calls for:

95-96: 463cc = 15.7 oz
After 96: 460cc = 15.5 oz

so it depends on; what year are your forks?

They are the last year F2 which are the same as the 95 ones so I am told. Defintely damper rod forks. I will go with 463cc and see how that works unless I hear different.

You still rock

I was just going to post the same question, although I need to do it by oil level rather than quantity, anyone know what that's supposed to be? I did it a couple years ago & I think I used 1997 forks (yeah my memory is that good). I had 400cc written down in my thrux's manual as for the quantity to use, but I was thinking it's a little lower than it should be, even before bonnieblackinfl posted those quantities. Now I'm pretty sure I'll find it to be the case. I'd rather not drain & refill as the oil isn't very old. I now have a oil level tool which I didn't at the time I did the conversion. The forums here won't let us search for a term as short as "F3" and I've been unsuccessful so far at finding a definite answer through google.

No, not really. Factories do give actual measured levels in their service manuals & that's what I was looking for. I did eventually find a link to the manual, Honda says 117mm from the top for 95 & 96 model forks and 120mm after 96. Those are with the forks fully compressed & springs removed as is customary for measuring.

Thanks for the good info, will use it. My forks are bone dry so I was looking for a volume measurement. Can start there and remove or add to get the right tune as recomended.

Your right Moto, cartridge fork. All these pesky names for things, I get confused.
