new calculator? maybe you need a fuel tap that doesn't leak... I weigh 270 with gear and i hit it pretty hard; still get 136 before reserve on my scrambler.

Wow!

First of all...let's play nice kiddies.
This is a helluva thread. Up until recently, I was "Mr. Stock." I liked my '72 Chevelles that way and so too I thought my Bonnie as well. I started to read about the mods that could be easily done that would improve the sound (I missed the way my '67 Daytona sounded) as well as adding some HP. I will say that IMHO the stock T100 ran really well. Torquey and fun. My pipes blued in about a minute and a half (no biggie). I like the way she runs and sounds now that I've done the mods also. I am still having trouble starting her when she's cold but I think that with a bit of tweaking I can get it right. This thread does have me thinking however. Not to be wish-washy but I'm glad I pulled my stuff off intact and have the ability to put it back on if need be. I never checked my MPG or miles per tank. I have a tendency to red-line every shift that I can. I'll keep track and post again soon. For the record...6'1 and 160lbs. See mods in my sig.

Cheers,

SK

Not necessarily. Quite a few modern Japanese Fuel injected motorcycles use some form of air injection for emissions control, the FJR1300 for 1. Also several of the Yamaha and Kawasaki cruisers use a form of air injection. Several companies sell removal kits for various cruisers for the same reasons / complaints seen here.

http://www.houseofmotorcycles.com/es...moval_Kits.htm

The new Hyabusa uses AI

"Idle Speed Control (ISC) improves cold starts and maintains a stable idle, while the Suzuki Pulsed-secondary AIR-injection (PAIR) system and large-volume catalyser reduce emissions. "

Sure , maybe a more sophisticated version than Triumphs but still AI.

So it aint just Triumph doing the AI thing. And I still say, if it aint causing a problem, leave it along.

AI removal

Better off with a deep box spanner to remove the Air Injector pipes from the head. There is not much clearance for a spanner. And man were they tight.

I always thought that the pipes blue up at about the same time as the mold nubbies get worn off the tires. It just shows that the bike's for riding, not polishing!

I am amazed by the condition of those pipes. I have NEVER seen stockers look that good. My TREATED pipes are bluer then that! You have a UNIQUE bike. Did the Dealer treat the pipes prior to ever firing this bike?

If you're talking about my T100, no dealer did nothing. HOWEVER, as soon as I got the bike home and it cooled off I cleaned the pipes and polished with SemiChrome Polish. And I polish them at least once a month. Been using Semichrome polish since I got my first bike back in 68, a 250 BSA Starfire. I'm a strong believer in the stuff. Maybe thats the answer....
You all are right, my bike sures seems to be one of the few thats not blueing.
